Age Wise Care Management was called in to help us manage our mom's care because both my sister and I live far away—Chicago and New Jersey. As Mom declined, she refused to go out and would eat badly, on paper towels, or not at all--too much effort. She kept pushing friends away and slept more and more. I do not have any pictures to share as my mother-in-law has estranged herself from her family since the 1970's. She is a stranger to me, but being the closest relative to her (2 hour drive), and given her recent move into an assisted living facility, it was necessary to find a management company to "bridge the gap." Age Wise Care Management was recommended to me by an attorney in Champaign, IL that deals with elder law. Choosing them was the best decision we have made. After meeting with Age Wise I was perfectly at ease with the situation that had developed with my mother-in-law, and much to my surprise my situation was not unique. They have provided me with much insight in dealing with the elderly (and in my case, a mentally ill elderly person). I would highly recommend them. [Top]
I remember feeling so overwhelmed with taking care of my mother after my father died.
I saw Mom gradually over time declining mentally and physically.
Two years ago she fell and broke her ankle, and then developed MRSA.
After she recovered and returned back to her home I realized that we needed help.
I didn't realize that care managers existed until I was reading a book, "Caring for Aging Loved Ones."
The book gave a website, and that's how I found Age Wise Care Management. |
