Age Wise Care Management was called in to help us manage our mom's care because both my sister and I live far away—Chicago and New Jersey. As Mom declined, she refused to go out and would eat badly, on paper towels, or not at all--too much effort. She kept pushing friends away and slept more and more.

Age Wise came in and assessed Mom’s care needs, set up devoted and competent home care, and kept a notebook where what was done was dated and written, so we knew much better what was going on with Mom. They also were the transportation, eyes and ears for getting Mom to the doctors, and then they would email or call us with a report. All the while they were compassionate and competent. For our need for long distance care, they were indispensable. I highly sing their praises to anyone seeking managed home care and senior advocacy. Because they were affiliated with a geriatric medical specialist, I knew Mom was getting the best of care. I recommend them unconditionally!

I do not have any pictures to share as my mother-in-law has estranged herself from her family since the 1970's. She is a stranger to me, but being the closest relative to her (2 hour drive), and given her recent move into an assisted living facility, it was necessary to find a management company to "bridge the gap." Age Wise Care Management was recommended to me by an attorney in Champaign, IL that deals with elder law. Choosing them was the best decision we have made. After meeting with Age Wise I was perfectly at ease with the situation that had developed with my mother-in-law, and much to my surprise my situation was not unique. They have provided me with much insight in dealing with the elderly (and in my case, a mentally ill elderly person). I would highly recommend them. [Top]

I remember feeling so overwhelmed with taking care of my mother after my father died. I saw Mom gradually over time declining mentally and physically. Two years ago she fell and broke her ankle, and then developed MRSA. After she recovered and returned back to her home I realized that we needed help. I didn't realize that care managers existed until I was reading a book, "Caring for Aging Loved Ones." The book gave a website, and that's how I found Age Wise Care Management.

My mother didn't really like the idea and wasn't at all sure she wanted to talk to these people coming to her house. The staff was so easy to talk to and established an immediate relationship with my mother, as well as myself. When we received their assessment, it not only included a plan but all the resources and contacts that we would need. What a relief to have help with it all!

Over this past year they have helped us with finding home health care, finding a lawyer to update Mom's will, finding a geriatric doctor, being advocates for us at the hospital, helped with insurance claims, and helped us to find and get Mom into an assisted living facility. But to me the most amazing part is the friendship that Mom and I have developed with Melissa. They genuinely care! I can't tell you how many times I've called for HELP and they've come to the rescue every time! [Top]
